How to Setup New Cricut Machine? [Cricut Maker/Explore Air 2]

Make sure to remove any other tape pieces available on the device.

  • In case you have a Cricut Maker, lift the top lid open. You’ll see the front door automatically opens at the same time.
  • And in the case of Cricut Explore Air 2, press the button ( that says open) present on the left side of the machine. You will see that both doors have opened on their own.

For both Cricut maker and Explore, don’t pull the automatically open doors. Allow them to open on their own. When you see that the doors are open, remove the foam pieces and any tape if there is any inside. At last, you need to open the packet of envelopes. Step 2 – Turning On New Cricut Machine

In the next step of the setup process, you need to turn on your new Cricut machine. Open up the power cords (one that came in your box) and plug them into the wall. Explore Air 2 has a dial on top to select materials, but in Cricut Maker, you will not find any dial. All the selections of materials are made within the Design Space. You must follow on-screen instructions for the machine you’re using.

When you get asked to prepare for a cut, head to put your material onto your mat, you can use the included mat and peel off the plastic protector cover from the mat. Put your test material (one that came with your welcome packet) and match up the photo in the on-screen instructions. When you’re asked to confirm that the blade is inserted into clamp B, ensure it is there and then load the mat. Loading means sliding the mat into the slots and pushing forward as far up as it goes.

Hold the mat in place with your left hand and press the blinking arrow light with your right hand. When the machine starts pulling the mat into place, let it let go when you press the blinking C button. Your first cut will automatically begin. Once the cut is complete, click the blinking arrow button again and release the mat. Now, remove your cut from the mat. Turn it over upside down on a flat surface and peel the mat away from your paper or vinyl. This way, you can avoid tearing too. If there are unwanted pieces, pee them off using a weeding tool.

Note: Push it as far up as possible; the material will not go under the first rod.
